EMDC Top 3! December Part 1 smArt Goals

Happy December to our EMDC Family!

We're back with another update to our SMART goals series with our Top 3! plan.

Here's a quick Recap:

We're working towards setting SMART goals and making this an accessible skill for our students to develop for YEARS to come! Can you imagine how your life would have changed if someone gave you a toolbox to help you reach for the stars smartly as a child? We're hoping this is a skill that carries over beyond the dance arena of their lives and makes a positive impact as they grow!

So far, we've talked about the S and the M. Specific and Measurable. Goals that are narrowed down enough to feel manageable and easy to explain. Goals that we can see the progress on because there is a way we can track the data involved, not just the way they feel.

This week we introduce the thoughts by the A and SMART. Achievable.

Acheivable goals have a reasonable limit. They encourage us to reach, but are not so far that we can never find our way to them. An achievable goal is practical and is just a step above what you can touch. Think of it this way: An achievlable goal is something you can reach on your tip toes, but NOT something you have to get a wobbly chair to climb to. The more support we have the higher we can stretch what looks attainable! Afterall... If someone is holding the chair it's a lot safer to climb on up!

Can you share with us an example of goals that are achievable or NOT achievable? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on your next couple Top 3! Sheets!
